Introduction to the LBC
Welcome to Laurention Badminton Club !
Laurentian Badminton Club (LBC) moved from its former location, Laurentian High School on Baseline Road to the Sir Winston Churchill (SWC) Middle School three years ago. The club proudly kept the Laurentian name which was established over 30 years ago. Sir Winston Churchill (SWC) Middle School is located in the Parkwood Hills area, on the south side of Meadowlands 2 blocks east of Merivale Road at 49 Mulvagh Street.
The SWC school gymnasium was built in 1994. There are 4 brightly lighted and evenly spaced regulation size courts. There are no obstructions on any of the courts and the ceiling is over 40 feet high. It has soft cushioned flooring which was newly replace in 2007. This type of flooring provides excellent traction and being in dark grey with easy to see white line marking makes it ideal for badminton. For a view of the gym, please click view of gym.
LBC quickly established itself as the club of choice in the Nepean and west end of Ottawa within the short three years. Our membership consists of 50 experienced adult players. Our games are fun and yet competitive in a social atmosphere. Our simple tagging system allows members to tag up with players of their choice or quickly to the next available court. We encourage members to change partners after every game so no one is discriminated. All games are in doubles format. Singles are permitted when free courts are available and nobody waiting.
Membership of the 2009/2010 season is full. If you wish to be considered for the coming season, please submit your name to Phil Yang with a brief description of previous experience. Please note, until further notice, there will be no “drop in” plays. Thank you for visiting our website.
